Tree takes aim on vehicles during Tuesday morning storm

It was a bad start to the day for Brittney Angel who lives on the southeast side of Evansville.

The storm that rolled through early Tuesday morning knocked part of a neighbor’s tree into her boyfriend’s car and scratched and dented hers.

Look for more storms to roll through later today with a slight chance for severe weather tonight.  The tornado chances are low, but be aware of possible thunderstorms moving through the Tri-State as part of the same system that caused the deadly tornado in Oklahoma Monday.

14 News Chief Meteorologist Jeff Lyons says a cold front to our west will bring widespread moderate to heavy rainfall over the weekend.  Showers and a few imbedded thunderstorms will move into the Tri-State before midnight and will continue through Saturday and Sunday.

Total rainfall of 2-3" appears likely, and this may cause some localized flooding and also prolong flooding conditions along the Wabash and Little Wabash Rivers.

It’ll be a cool, but dry weekend in Evansville following record setting rain on Thursday.

Residents woke up to 1.86 inches of rain, most of which came before midnight Friday.  Thursday’s total of 1.79 inches set a record for April 18. That was the highest total in the Tri-State.

Lows overnight will bottom out in the 30 to 35 degree range by Saturday morning and a Frost Advisory is in effect for all of southwest Indiana.

Slight risk for severe thunderstorms

Slight risk for severe thunderstorms

Warmest days of the year so far this year about to be slammed by a potent cold front.

Temps surged into the lower 80s this week and will be near a record high this afternoon.

Thunderstorms will hold off until later tonight and end early on Thursday.  We are still under a slight risk for severe storms, meaning several storms could be packed with large hail...damaging winds with a chance of isolated tornadoes.  In the wake of the front, temps will sink into the mid 50s Friday afternoon.

BE ALERT for severe storms later tonight through early Thursday.
