Eastminster holding rummage sale

Esterminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Ave., will hold a rummage sale on Friday May 3 and Saturday, May 4.

Baby and childrens clothes, Christmas and home decor, furniture and other items will be available.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

Mall management tells 14 News that New York and Company, which sells women's clothing and accessories, closed a few weeks ago.

Thanksgiving week is here and that means a lot of shopping will be done.  Many of the deals being offered to east side shoppers during the Black Friday sales involve electronic gadgets.  Angie’s List says to go ahead and reap the savings, but be wary of high-pressure sales to add an extended warranty to that low-priced item. And never buy an extended warranty without reading the fine print.

“Everyone likes to save money, and there are lots of great opportunities out there for bargain shoppers,” said Angie’s List founder Angie Hicks. “But be careful that you don’t offset your savings by giving into impulse buys for extended warranties you may never use.”

A new womens’ accessories and clothing store in Evansville is preparing for its first shoppers.  According to its facebook page, Versona Accessories will hold a grand opening Thursday, November 15.

14 News first reported that Versona Accessories would be opening next to Ulta in the Evansville Pavilion in August.  Previously, the space was occupied by Linens ‘N Things.

According to its website, Versona Accessories sells womens’ jewelry, handbags, sunglasses, scarves, belts and shoes, along with some clothing.

On Site Commissary Sale coming to Armory

Military ID cardholders can take advantage of savings on popular grocery items at a special commissary On-Site Sale which is being sponsored by the Fort Knox Commissary and hosted by the 1-163rd Field Artillery Indiana Army National Guard.

The event will be held on November 2, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and November 3rd, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the sale will begin a half hour early on both days for shoppers with disabilities. The sale will take place in the Evansville National Guard Armory, located at 3300 East Division Street.

How to receive Christmas assistance from the Salvation Army

Families and residents from Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties who will be unable to provide their immediate family a Christmas dinner and toys for their children may sign up for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance in person.

Applications Will Be Taken At The Salvation Army, 1040 North Fulton Avenue from October 22, 2012—November 2 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Evening applications will be taken only on October 25 and November 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
