What the... duck? Feathery friend loose at Memorial HS Thursday morning

What the... duck? Feathery friend loose at Memorial HS Thursday morning

Animal Control crews made an early morning run to Memorial High School after they received a call about a duck on the loose.

It happened around 6:30 Thursday morning.

Unfortunately our cameras missed all the action. By the time we arrived a school official told us crews had taken the duck away.

The official told us the duck was originally inside the school, although it's unclear how he got in there.

School officials got it outside, where animal control officers secured it.

Christopher Robinson, a teacher of mathematics at Harrison High School, has been named the recipient of the May 2013 Cause for Applause employee recognition award.

Robinson was nominated by a Harrison student who had this to say about his teaching methods: “Mr. Robinson is truly a phenomenal teacher, as he is committed to ensuring the success of all of his mathematics students at Harrison on a daily basis.” The student said that Robinson regularly offers after-school instruction for students needing help – and also sponsors Harrison’s Math Academic Team and offers lessons beyond those he teaches during the school day. “From my observations, when Mr. Robinson is asked by a student for help, he does not hesitate to suggest that they visit him after school for more in-depth, individualized explanations.”

Bosse math teacher earns leadership award

Amy Bonenberger of Benjamin Bosse High School was named a Peabody Energy Leader in Education for the 2012-13 school year, and awarded $1,000 for her compassion and commitment to students.

As Bosse High’s math teacher, Bonenberger’s leadership extends beyond the classroom.  In addition to managing the Bosse Transition Learning School for at-risk freshmen, Bonenberger coordinates the school’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, in which she meets with faculty members to alert them of changes in curriculum or assessment; and handles the budget and arranges professional development for teachers. She goes beyond her duties at the high school level and teaches a night class at the University of Southern Indiana.
