Tip leads to arrest of Evansville couple on several drug charges | News

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- An Evansville couple was arrested on Tuesday after state police find marijuana and paraphernalia in their home.
Tuesday morning around 9:30 a.m., Indiana State
Police say they responded to 1600 block of East Sycamore in Evansville to investigate a
complaint of illegal drug activity.
Troopers say they detected an odor of
marijuana inside the residence when 29-year-old Christine Jackson answered the door.
After troopers obtained a search warrant for the home, they found marijuana, paraphernalia and a box that contained equipment
commonly used to cultivate marijuana.
The homeowners, Jackson and 32-year-old Shawn Smith were arrested and taken to the
Vanderburgh County Jail where they are currently being held without
bond.
They are charged with Neglect of a Dependant- Class D Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance- Class D Felony, Possession of Marijuana- Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor
State police say the couple's five-year-old daughter was there at the time. The Division of Family
and Children Services was contacted and the child was released to a
family member.
