EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)-
Officers say three drug dealers have been arrested after learning one of the suspects was storing marijuana at Mini-Storage on Washington Avenue.
Those suspects are brothers Matt and Stephen Ford and Matt's girlfriend, Alexia Horswood.
Officers say they've been keeping an eye on Matt for months, and after finding the evidence on Friday, their suspicions have been confirmed.
"We've had several incidents where people stored narcotics in a strange facility. It's not uncommon at all," said Tim Everley with EPD's Drug Task Force.
A police affidavit says officers were suspicious of 27-year-old Matt for several months. Everley says what they found at Mini-Storage Friday afternoon confirmed he was dealing weed.
"Inside the storage facility they found, I believe it was a little less than a pound of marijuana. And this information gave them more leads. They ended up at the suspects house at 1905 East Gum," Everley said.
Officers found paraphernalia, evidence of illegal weapons, and more marijuana at the residence.
Matt, his brother Stephen, and his girlfriend Alexia were all arrested for dealing. The Fords each received an additional charge of possession of a weapon by a violent felon.
"We don't see police on our street," neighbor Patty O'Neill said.
O'Neill lives near the Fords and Horswood. She says arrests like these are rare and alarming to the neighborhood.
"I saw them take two young men in handcuffs. So, it was very unsettling for our neighborhood," O'Neill said.
All three of the suspects in this case are currently being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail. All three face felony charges.
