Police think east side burglaries are related | News
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Evansville police are investigating numerous home break-ins on Evansville's east side.
Police say they started several months ago and have been happening in an area around Plaza Park International Prep Academy on Lincoln Avenue.
There have been about 25 burglaries and police believe they are related but have not made any arrests so far.
Police tell 14News these are home burglaries, mainly happening during the day.
Some of them in the Oaks and Cobblestone subdivisions right near Lincoln and Newburgh Roads.
Police say things like electronics and jewelry have gone missing.
They also say they've increased patrols in that are and are asking people who live in the area to keep an eye on the whole neighborhood, not just their own home.
"It's a partnership. We want to catch them, it's our job to catch them but we do need help from the public giving us information if they see somebody that looks suspicious or a vehicle that's out of place and giving that to us," says Sgt. Jason Collum, EPD. "The smallest piece of information can be the last piece of the puzzle to put it all together and make some arrests."
Police say they have already had two meetings with neighbors about these burglaries, they'll have another one at 6:00 p.m. on February 21 at Plaza Park International Prep Academy.
