EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)-

The Evansville Police Department hosted its first Coffee with a Cop event Tuesday morning.
It's a partnership with Donut Bank Bakery.

The even took place at the Donut Bank on Lincoln Avenue from 7:00-9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The event is a chance for the public to come out and meet officers with the Evansville Police Department.

If you have questions or concerns about public safety or simply want to chat with the cops, anyone is welcome.

Other communities hold events like this and EPD believes it will be very successful in Evansville.

"There's a lot of people in the community that don't like the police or don't trust the police. I would encourage those people to come out, meet us, get to know us on a personal level. You know, we're just like everybody else, we go eat, we have families," Chief Billy Bolin said. "I think once you get to know us on a personal level, it's not just that guy in the uniform. So that's what we're hoping to accomplish."

Their plan is to have these once a month at different Evansville Donut Bank locations.
