Salvation Army says more donations needed

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign is facing some difficulties this year.

They say demand for assistance has increased more than 50% and there's only a few more days to donate.

The Salvation Army says there are so many people in our community needing help this holiday season and donations are well below normal.

What the organization raises during this annual Red Kettle Drive allows them to help struggling families starting immediately and continuing through all next year.

"The bell at the kettle symbolizes that even in when people are buying their groceries and presents, there are people who need us in this community. People aren't as fortunate as us and when people hear that bell, they remember that need," said Chris White, Salvation Army Cadet.

You have until December 24 to donate.
