EPD: Elderly woman victim of home improvement fraud

East siders may want to be wary when answering their door.  Evansville Police say a 72-year-old east side woman was victimized by an unsolicited door-to-coor cleaning products salesman.

They say they responded to a home on North Stockwell Road after the woman said she purchased four bottles of cleaning solution for $100 early this week.  The salesman then requested more money to power wash the outside of her house.  She wrote him another check for $82 and he left.

The next day, he showed up and asked for additional funding for the job and in fear, the victim wrote another check to him for $269.  She told police she wrote the last check just to get him to leave after he repeatedly asked to hug her.

The offender was scheduled to show up Wednesday morning to complete the work but never arrived or called.
