Give a few cents; help others with home energy bills

Vectren customers paying their bills online, now have the opportunity to round the payment up to the nearest dollar, donating the additional amount to Share the Warmth Inc. Share the Warmth, a nonprofit organization, annually allocates funds to Indiana Community Action Agencies to administer Indiana’s Weatherization Assistance Program.

This weatherization initiative is designed to offer comprehensive long-term energy conservation benefits to single family homeowners that meet the state and federal guidelines for low-income. Through donations, Share the Warmth has weatherized more than 170 homes since 2007, making homes more comfortable and utility bills more manageable for those in need.

“Often people only think about weatherization during the colder months of the year, however it is an ongoing effort to improve the living conditions of low-income Hoosiers, resulting in lower, more manageable utility bills” said Jeff Whiteside Vectren’s vice president of community sustainability and president of the Vectren Foundation.

It appears a popular Evansville Restaurant has closed its doors, at least for now.

A sign on the door at Lorenzo's Bistro and Bakery on South Hebron Avenue says the restaurant is closed for a change in ownership.

The doors were locked on Wednesday night and the parking lot was empty.

A man inside the restaurant wouldn't open the door or give any comment.
