Homeless man charged with east side break-ins | Crime

A homeless man has been arrested and charged with burglary after Evansville Police say he broke into at least three houses early Sunday morning.

Police were called to a home on Tyler Avenue, near the intersection of the Lloyd Expressway and South Green River Road around 1:45 a.m. when a resident reported someone trying to break in through a window and his back door.

Officers located a suspect nearby and when approached, police say 29-year-old John Robert Carter began running.

He was captured and charged with residential burglary, attempted burglary and resisting law enforcement. Police say two other houses had been broken into in the same area.
