EPD: Car hits pole; police dogs chase; meth lab found | Crime
A 41-year-old Evansville man is in jail after police say he crashed his car trying to elude officers and a meth lab was found inside.
Around 11 p.m. Monday, an officer on patrol on Green River Road says he spotted a Dodge 4-door with false plates and activated his emergency lights. The car didn't stop, however and police say 41-year-old Paul Adrew Hein then lost control on the rain-slicked pavement near Bayard Park Drive and struck a utility pole.
Officers say Hein tried to run away but with the help of a K9 unit, he was located and taken into custody.
Inside the vehicle, officers say was a meth lab.
Hein, who lives on Ruston Avenue, has been charged with resisting law enforcement, being a habitual traffic violater, manufacturing meth, possession of marijuana prior and possession of meth. He's in the Vanderburgh County Detention Center.
