Easter Seals 'LemondAid Stand' fundraiser features food

Grab a cup of lemonade this Friday and help out a good cause.  The 18th annual “LemonAid Stand for Easter Seals” will be held June 21 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, 3701 Bellemeade Ave.

Thirteen-year-old Owen George is coordinating this year’s event, with assistance from his parents, Art and Mindy George, and sister, Alex.  All funds raised will be donated to the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center to provide physical, occupational and speech therapy for local children and adults with disabilities.

Wash your car; help those in the Tri-State with MS

The Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Association will have a benefit car wash at Lucas Oil Center this Saturday.  

From 7:00am to 4:00pm, participants will receive a Free Express Works Wash with a donation to support the local Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Association.

All money raised at this fundraising event stays in the tri-state area to support individuals and families coping with Multiple Sclerosis.

Stanton Optical partners with ECHO Community Health Care for free eye exams

Stanton Optical's North Green River Road store recently partnered with ECHO Community Health Care to accept eye exam referrals for uninsured, under insured and homeless patients. Stanton Optical provides the patients with a free eye examination and a copy of their eyeglass prescription to take back to their counselor at ECHO.

All girls in grades 9-12 (as well as incoming freshmen and recent graduates) and parents are invited to attend a Girls Power the World event on Saturday, June 15, 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Central Time, at the University of Evansville’s Ridgeway University Center.  This event is designed to help girls build skills and attitudes that will give them the confidence they need to move successfully through the high school years and as they enter college and pursue a career. 

Girls Power the World was developed and organized by Castle High School senior Mary Lynn Dennis, as her Girl Scout Gold Award Project. The Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting, requires completion of a Take Action Project that addresses a community need and seeks to produce lasting, positive sustainable change through involving others in the effort.

United Way of Southwestern Indiana’s Spring Into Caring Food Drive is underway this week with local businesses, churches and other groups participating. Organizations and individuals are encouraged to conduct a food drive or donate to meet our community’s need for food.

Friday, May 10 is collection day.  Donations may be dropped off at one of the following collection sites between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Put non-perishable food by your mailbox for NALC drive this Saturday

 

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 21st annual food drive to combat hunger on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes in Evansville and the surrounding area.

Law enforcement officers work for tips to benefit Special Olympics Friday at Texas Roadhouse

 

Cops and Cowboys is scheduled for this Friday April 26 at Texas Roadhouse in Evansville Indiana.  Law Enforcement Officers from the Evansville City Police Department, Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Deputies and Vanderburgh Confinement Officers with be assisting the wait staff to collect tips for Special Olympics.  All proceeds will benefit local athletes. 

You can come by for lunch and dinner, meet our local heroes and help a worthy cause.
