Do you have the EDGE? | Business
Two Tri-State businesses were awarded EDGE awards at the Indiana State House this week.
Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann presented the 2013 Economic Development and Growth through Entrepreneurship (EDGE) Awards to Mark and Kailyn Hudson from HoneyBaked Ham Company and Café and Kim and Jim Derk of Lifesong Academy.
Located just off North Green River Road, HoneyBaked Ham Company and Cafe was recognized as the “emerging business” for 2013. Mark and Kailyn came to the Southwest ISBDC in April 2011 for assistance with fine-tuning the company’s operating plan and other guidance. The HoneyBaked Ham Company and Café employs six employees.
Lifesong Academy, located on Stringtown Road, was recognized as the “established business” for 2013. Kim Derk is the owner of Lifesong Academy, a therapeutic center that works with children with neurobehavioral challenges. Kim stated the Southwest ISBDC has been extremely helpful in the past year. She doesn’t think her business would have grown as quickly or as affectively as it has without the help of the Southwest ISBDC. The center now employs 30 employees.
If you see them around, say congratulations!
