Evansville author Carolyn Howard has written a novel “Blood of My Ancestor.” This self-published volume is based on the true story of the murder of her great aunt in rural Martin County, Indiana, in 1903.  The murder was committed by her stepson and was the result of a family feud. The brutality of the murder kept people from talking about it after it was over, and because of that, it was forgotten.

As of Saturday, the Kindle version of Blood of My Ancestor was #53 on the Amazon bestseller list for United States History, 19th century.

From the author:

From church picnics and pie-eating contests to making moonshine and cousin love, the story takes you through life in a rural farming community in the late 1800s. Add to the story jealousy and greed versus the desire to marry, raise a family and have a happy home, and the simple life of a wealthy farmer is left in total disarray.

Blood of My Ancestor is available for e-download and in paperback at on-line book retailers, including Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
